Google
has officially revealed the new Nexus 7 tablet that will be the first
device to arrive running the updated Android 4.3 version of Jelly Bean
Google has officially produced the second generation Nexus 7 at a
press event over in San Francisco this afternoon following on from a pretty severe leak that ocurred earlier today.
Starting off with a bit of an ego massage, Google was quick to point out the phenomenal success of the first Google Nexus 7 by Asus that, incidentally, won T3's Gadget of the Year award last year.Google is taking the same approach with the follow up, cramming in some very tasty specifications and improving the dimensions (it's 6mm narrower and 2mm thinner) while keeping the price relatively friendly.
The new, all-black 7-incher will arrive with a higher resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 (and a 323ppi) as well as a beefier 1.5GHz quad-core S4 Pro processor developed by Qualcomm.
That's paired with an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM which, we're sure, will keep the newly revealed Android 4.3 OS running as smooth as butter. A 5MP rear-facing camera has been added to the back to compliment the front-facing 2MP snapper.
Connectivity is sorted thanks to Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, 802.11n and even an HDMI output for hardwiring the little slate up to your telly.
Google has amped up the audio as well, throwing in stereo speakers with Fraunhofer's virtual surround-sound technology adding the oomph.
An unlocked 4G LTE version hasn't been shown off this afternoon - but Google says it's on the way.
Pricing hasn't been officially announced - but like everything to do with this tablet - there have been a few leaks suggesting we could see the 16GB model land at around £150. The larger, 32GB model is expected to arrive at £175.
This makes the new Nexus 7 slightly more expensive than the earlier model but still a good deal for anyone looking to pick up a new tablet.
